The Hartselle Baseball Team won the 2009 5A State Championship by defeating Briarwood Christian.

The Hartselle Baseball Program has a winning tradition based upon a tremendous work ethic and an attitude that success is the direct result of high expectations along with mental and physical preparation.  One of the main beliefs of the Hartselle Baseball program is that "uncommon effort yields uncommon results."  This motto is visible in the strength and conditioning programs of the off-season and the numerous hours of practice that is put into the preparation for one of the toughest game schedules in the state as well as the Southeast.  The typical practice day at Hartselle begins @ 6:15-6:30 AM where players and coaches work on fundamentals and then an afternoon practice session at the field or in the indoor facilities.  Two-A-Days are an everyday reality for Hartselle Baseball players.  Since 1988, the Hartselle Baseball Team has compiled a record of 775 Wins and 255 Losses.  Along the way, the Tigers have won 7 State Championships in Class 5A as well as a 5A State Runner-Up finish in 1993.  From 1995 until 1998, The Tigers competed at the 6A Class level and finished in the Final Four in 1996 and in the Finals in 1998 where Hartselle finished as the Runner-Up in 6A to Baseball America's National Champion, Vestavia Hills HS, who finished the year 32-2, with both losses coming to Hartselle.  The Hartselle Baseball Program has become one of the most well respected programs in the Southeast and has been nationally ranked as high as 5th in the country.  This past season's record of 50-9 along with the Alabama 5A State Championship earned the Tigers the selection to the Top 25 Teams in America, where they had a final ranking of 22nd in the country.  Hartselle has had 6 players sign professional contracts, has produced 6 All-Americans, and many All-State and All-State Honoroable Mention players who have gone on to play at the college ranks.  The Hartselle Baseball Team is led by Head Coach William Booth (since 1988), Asst. Coach Chris Heaps (since 1995), Asst. Coach Jerry Childers (since 2001), Asst. Coach John Hall (since 2005), Asst. Coach Chris Wimberley (since 2008), and Asst. Coach Bryant Whitlock who recently joined us for the 2010 season.
