The policy of HHS is that cell phones and other electronics are not to be at school. If parents choose for a student to have a cell phone for after school use, it must be turned off and remain out of sight during the school day.
Any cell phone or electronic device used during school hours is a disciplinary infraction.
- 1st offense: The cell phone or electronic device will be taken and stored in the school safe until retrieval by a parent.
- 2nd offense: The cell phone or device must be retrieved by a parent, and the student will be assigned to detention hall for 5 days.
- 3rd offense: The student will be assigned to 2 days of In-School Suspension.
- With any subsequent offense, the student will be suspended from school for 1 day.
We understand that cell phones are part of our culture and at appropriate times and places provide a convenient service. HHS staff will not look for them if students keep them turned off and put up during school. Lost or stolen phones and electronics are not the responsibility of the school. Students will have telephone access at all times through the office for emergencies, and parents may reach students for emergencies through the office.
